OVER HALF (57%) OF BUSINESS TRAVELLERS WANT HIRE CARS DEEP CLEANED
- 66% wouldn’t expect to pay more for car to be deep cleaned
- 51% will still wipe the hire car with their own cleaning products
Business travellers are demanding that car hire companies go above and beyond when it comes to cleaning vehicles, according to a new Opinium* survey of business travellers by iCarhireinsurance.com, a leading provider of car hire excess insurance.
Of those who have hired in the past, over half (57%) want hire cars to be deep cleaned, and 59% would choose one company over another if they knew they were more thoroughly cleaned.
In addition to this, 54% like the idea of a breakable tamper seal reassuring them the car has not been used since it was last cleaned.
This level of cleaning is expected as standard though, and 66% would not expect to pay more for a car to be deep cleaned.
Over half (53%) of car hirers feel confident that a hire car will have been cleaned to a high standard but half (51%) will wipe the car with their own cleaning products.

* All figures, unless otherwise stated, are from Opinium Research. Total sample size was 200 UK adults, who have hired a car for business travel, in a survey of 1,000 hire car drivers. Fieldwork was undertaken between 26 April – 3 May 2022. The survey was carried out online.
