British Motor Museum to get new hotel

British Motor Museum welcomes development of 142 bedroom Fairfield by Marriott

The British Motor Museum has welcomed the start of work on a Fairfield by Marriott hotel development, adjacent to the venue. Set to become the first Fairfield by Marriott in the UK, the hotel is planned to open in June 2027 and will add convenient, high-quality accommodation for conference and event delegates as well as Museum visitors.

The current programme indicates practical completion in May 2027 with a planned opening in June 2027.

Home to the world’s largest collection of historic British cars, the British Motor Museum is a leading venue for conferences, meetings and events. Flexible spaces accommodate groups from 6 to 600 delegates, with the Conference and Exhibition Suite seating up to 600 theatre style with direct access for vehicles. The venue also offers 2,255 square metres of exhibition space and 65 acres of outdoor event space for launches, displays and large-scale programmes.

For organisers planning conferences and events, the additional bedrooms, within walking distance of the Museum site, will make it easier to host residential programmes, support early starts and evening networking, and offer a smoother overall delegate experience with less time travelling between venue and accommodation. The hotel will give delegates a simple, reliable place to rest and reset between sessions, helping multi-day programmes run more smoothly. Phase one is planned to deliver 142 bedrooms, with a potential second phase of 98 bedrooms based on demand.

“The British Motor Museum is a distinctive and proven venue for business events, as well as a creative and inspiring destination for visitors,” said Toby Batchelor, Head of Commerce at the British Motor Museum. “Having more bedrooms close by strengthens what we can offer organisers, particularly for multi-day programmes and evening events. The hotel is a separate, independently operated business, but we will be working closely with their management and delivery teams to maximise benefits for our delegates and visitors. For planners, the Fairfield will add an extra layer of ease, with accommodation close at hand and a consistent standard guests can trust.”

As a charity, the British Motor Museum relies on income from visitors, donations and commercial activity to support its work to collect, conserve, share and inspire. The added accommodation is expected to strengthen the Museum’s appeal to a broader mix of business events and visitors.

The Fairfield by Marriott brand is designed around the beauty of simplicity, with a seamless stay focused on productivity and a great night’s sleep at great value. With warm hospitality and trusted essentials, it is built for travellers who value balance and like to keep to their routines while away. It will ensure good quality, internationally branded accommodation in the local area. Cycas Hospitality has been named as the hotel’s management partner.
